Do you give your kids nightly baths like we do? Bath time is a great opportunity to help your kids wind down and it helps establish a good bedtime routine. BUT bath time has always felt like jail to me… I go stir crazy sitting in there every night, just staring at the kids playing. In the past, I’ve often cured the bath time blues by scrolling aimlessly through Facebook or Pinterest, but during a recent phone fast I was forced to get creative in order to keep my sanity. I’ve even kept the no phone during bath time rule and couldn’t be happier! Here are some things I do, all while being at arms’ reach of my children in the bath tub.
My bathroom isn’t huge, but I can get a few good leg and arm stretches in. Use the toilet and sink to get some more elevated stretches in too!
2. Stuff/Prep cloth diapers
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just can’t find the time to stuff my cloth diapers. I’d often end up with a basket beside the changing table and stuffing as I go. Well, no more! These days I’m grabbing pre stuffed diapers… from the basket!
3. Fold Laundry
On the same line as prepping cloth diapers, getting a load of laundry folded and ready to be put away helps me to stay on top of the laundry a little better.
4. Clean the bathroom
This might be my favorite! My guest bathroom always looks sparkling against my master bathroom. I keep a spray bottle and a towel/sponge or some homemade cleaning wipes (link diy house cleaners) under the sink. Being able to whip them out and give a quick wipe cuts down on the need for frequent deep cleaning.
5. Turn up some music and Dance
Okay, I’ll admit I’m not the best dancer and I always close the door so my husband doesn’t see me making a fool of myself, but the kids and I can break it down to some sick tunes! A few upbeat songs later I switch to something more mellow. We often do dance parties during the day, but add some glow sticks at bath time and you’ve got a real treat!
6. Do your hair
Yet again, not sure if you’re at all like me… but I can’t ever seem to find time to do my hair these days! So usually I try to do it at least once a week during bath time.
7. Pluck your eyebrows
On the same note as doing your hair, this is a great time to take care of those bushes – or at least my bushes!
8. Shave your legs
Showers are random and short in my house, or filled with little bodies that get in the way of important things like shaving. A few years ago my sister shared this awesome diy “shaving cream” that actually works better out of the shower. Mix 1/4 cup each of sugar and coconut oil with the juice of half a lemon. Scrub your legs with the mixture and then shave. Have some warm water in the sink to clear out your razor. Then say hello to the closest shave you’ve ever had!
9. Give yourself a pedicure/manicure
I love soaking my feet in the tub at the end of a long day. And with my nail bag already in the bathroom, a quick soak and a pedicure/manicure can make you feel like a lady again!
