After the Storm; A Rainbow Baby on the Way! - The Snap Mom

After the Storm; A Rainbow Baby on the Way!

A “Rainbow Baby” is a baby that is born following a miscarriage or still birth.

“Rainbow Babies” are the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean that the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and the clouds. Storm clouds may still loom over, but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy, and much needed hope.

We experienced a terrible loss last year… (click here to read about it)

After the Storm; a Rainbow Baby on the Way!

It’s true! I am expecting my rainbow baby! We could not be more excited!

I am 13 weeks pregnant now and I just recently stopped hurling every 2 minutes. Morning sickness does not even describe what I went through. I mean, every smell and every meal was utter torture. One day I was making myself a smoothie and after it finished blending, I opened up the top, felt like I was going to sneeze and to my HORROR I vomited INTO the blender and ruined my ALL ORGANIC smoothie. UGH! (go ahead and chuckle…)

The struggle is real…

At my 8 week appointment, in my desperation I said to my midwife…”I NEED DRUGS”, and she basically (in a loving way) laughed and said, “Whitney this is completely normal! Not normal for you with your past pregnancies, but normal just the same”. So basically I decided to tough it out!

Then I went to my 10 week appointment and I had lost so much weight the nurse begged me to get on Zofran! Haha! But after I researched a little bit and found out that even if I was losing weight my baby would be just fine, I decided to hang in there and pray that the second trimester would bring me energy and a normal stomach!

So because I was hardly sick with my two girls, I am CONVINCED this is a boy and if it’s not a boy… it’s an alien. Ha! We shall see!

My girls…

My girls (2 and 3) are so excited! I have been sharing with them the progress of the baby. We watched the fetal development videos together and I have started prepping them for the birth! The other night I was laying with my 3-year-old, Mercedes, and she was talking about how she can’t wait to grow up… “Because then I can grow hair under my pits and my boobs will get big and then my belly will get big and then I will have a baby come out of my butt just like you mommy!” OMG I died laughing.

How I told Krystle K…

Krystle K and I are 10 weeks apart in our pregnancies! How fun, right? And if I am indeed having a boy, we will have matching families! Hahaha!

It was so fun telling her! We were at a beautiful poolside brunch and I handed my phone to her and said, hey I wanted to show you this. And on the screen was…

telling krystle

She immediately started crying and hugged me. How sweet! I love her. Being pregnant together is something I will never forget. We get to complain to each other because no one else really understands, haha!  🙂

Thank you so much for reading and I promise to fill you in on the gender as soon as I know!
