I have been meaning to make my own toothpaste for a while now, and this recent study about the benefits of coconut oil over traditional toothpaste pushed my butt into gear.
- 6 tbsp coconut oil (acts as antibacterial toothpaste base)
- 6 tbsp baking soda (mild alkaline abrasive to remove stains)
- 25 drops of essential oil (peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint and clove are the top used oils for toothpaste)
*Optional Ad-ins: 6 tbsp Diatomaceous Earth (trace mineral crucial for bone health. Use in place of baking soda), 6 tbps bentonite clay (bind and draws out impurities), 3 drops of GSE (fights infections), 1/2 tsp stevia (natural sweetener), 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide (natural whitener), 1 tsp magnesium powder (aids calcium absorption)
- Store in container
- Spit into toilet or trash can (as coconut oil can clog-up sink)
