Lactation Cookies: Increase Your Milk Supply One Cookie at a Time - The Snap Mom

Lactation Cookies: Increase Your Milk Supply One Cookie at a Time

Hello my name is Lisa Baker and I love to bake!
I love to research and learn new things and I was surprised on what
I found out regarding lactation cookies. I wish I knew about this recipe when I was breastfeeding my son. I ALWAYS craved cookies but
didn’t know there were cookies that helped mother’s increase milk supply. My good friend Karen is due
anytime soon with her second child and I said to her that I would love to come by and bring her some
lactation cookies. Her response was just like mine, “there are such cookies?” Yes ladies, there are such
cookies. If you are breastfeeding, this recipe is definitely worth a try. Or even a great gift to make and
give to a new mom. Who doesn’t want a cookie or two?

Lactation cookies are very close to a traditional oatmeal cookie with three ingredients to help produce

milk supply; oats, brewer’s yeast and flaxseed meal. The recipe can be altered to increase the brewer’s

yeast and flaxseed meal if desired, but do not substitute the brewer’s yeast with any other yeast since

it’s one of the main ingredients to help increase milk supply. In my recipe below it calls for chocolate

chips, but you can make any variation that you like. I know when I was breastfeeding, my son Wyatt could not tolerate dairy. Instead try these variations:

  • Dairy-free chocolate chips
  • Raisins
  • Coconut and bananas
  • Nuts and dried cranberries
