We all know how awesome coconut oil is. It has an unending list of uses and benefits (oil pulling being one of my favorites). Now Irish scientists have released their findings regarding coconut oil’s power over tooth decay. Because of its ability to kill streptococcus mutans (the bacteria that causes tooth decay), coconut oil proved to be a highly effective oral health agent. Research also suggested that because of its antimicrobial activity, it should be considered a viable option in the future for treating microbial infections, as antibiotic resistance increases rise. In conclusion they strongly suggested that the oral health industry should look into incorporating coconut oil into dental hygiene products.
